Pictures of the redesigned 2012 CLS have been everywhere the last few days! The official debut is at the Paris Auto Show this fall but Mercedes has released official photos and this video a little early.

Here are some of the changes that are coming to the 2011 models.

C-Class

• Sport sedans now feature LED Daytime Running Lamps and black headlamp inlays
• Enhanced P1 package includes split folding rear seat and rear sunshade
• Heated Seats removed from Premium 1 Package
• New Lighting Package with Bi-Xenons and active curve illumination
• New standard 17” wheel for C350 sport

CL-Class

• Refresh! New bumpers, hood, fenders, grille, headlamps, and taillights
• LED daytime running lights standard
• Driver Assist Package updated with Active Blind Spot Assist and Active Lane Keeping Assist
• New standard 18” wheel
• Magnetite Black exterior color added (black base with metallic flake)
• Sahara Beige/Black interior color added

CLS-Class

• Sport body styling, sport steering wheel and 18” AMG wheels now standard

E-Class

• Bluetec arrives in late summer with 17” run-flats, sport or luxury
• Active Blind Spot Assist and Active Lane Keeping Assist added to Driver Assist Package in E350/E550 sedans
• E63 gets alcantara headliner and stitched dash as standard
• Diamond White available starting in October production
• Wagon is standard with rear view camera and power liftgate
• Coupe gets new 18” AMG wheel in Appearance Package
• Cabriolet introduced with AIRCAP, AIRSCARF and trunk pass through

SUV Family

• New Mirror Design
• Blind Spot Assist Available (not on GLK)
• New Rear View Monitor reduces fish-eye effect
• Compass in rear view mirror – M/GL/R

GL-Class

• Driver Knee and front passenger airbags added as standard (9 total)
• LED daytime running lamps in lighting package
• Eco mode replaces Comfort mode
• Pearl Beige paint replaces Sand Beige paint

G-Class

• New wheel design
• Night Black paint added (matte)
• Tail lamp covers and turn signal covers deleted

M-Class

• LED daytime running lamps with bi-xenon headlamps
• ML63 gets new hood and headlights

R-Class

• Refresh!
• New from the A-pillar forward – fenders, grille, hood, bumpers, LEDs
• New 19” wheel
• New LED tail lamps

S-Class

• S63 gets all-new 5.5 litre direct injection bi-turbo V8
• Contrast stitching with Premium and Exclusive upholstery
• Active Blind Spot Assist and Active Lane Keeping Assist added to Driver Assist Package
• Optional Bang & Olufsen BeoSound surround-souns system with 15 speakers, 1200 watts and 16-channel digital signal processing
• Magnetite Black exterior color added (black base with metallic flake)

SLK-Class

• Sport Body Cladding added as standard
• Quartz Blue paint added
• No SLK55 AMG

Unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show this week, this sculpture is likely the basis for the 2012 CLS redesign scheduled for release in 2011. The SLS style grille is the most obvious change and Mercedes officials say this is the first vehicle headed away from the tradition wedge-shape and toward a more art-deco inspired design.

The 2010 GLK, E sedan and E coupe are already here and the rest of the 2010 models will be arriving soon. Mercedes-Benz has just given us the official pricing and release dates.

Mercedes has just announced an new wheel and sound system upgrade option for the 2009 CLS63 AMG. For $3,000 the new P15 AMG Wheel and Sound Enhancement Option will include an AMG performance sound system and new 19 inch AMG twin 5-spoke forged light-alloy wheels. Here is the information from Mercedes on these items;

E02 – AMG Performance Sound System
Featuring the latest in digital amplifier technology and high-tech materials, the AMG Performance Sound System delivers outstanding dynamics and sonic clarity. With 12 studio loudspeakers and 2 ICEpower amplifiers offering a total output of 705 Watts, this system brings audiophile sound quality to the cabin of the CLS63 AMG.

793 – 19′ AMG Twin 5-Spoke Forged Light-Alloy Wheels
With forged construction and a design unique to AMG, these light-alloy wheels offer not only reduced weight at all four corners, but styling that complements the aggressive lines of the CLS63 AMG. Forged construction results in wheel that is stronger and lighter and suited perfectly to the dynamic driving enjoyed by AMG customers.

In the event that you have a CLS63 on order and don’t want this package make sure to contact your salesperson since they are automatically adding this option to all cars currently in changeable status.

Owners of 2008 and newer Mercedes can now add “The Best of XM” to their existing account. However, some vehicles will require a trip to the shop for updated software.

If you have a 2008 or 2009 S/CL-Class or a 2009 SL/SLK/E/CLS/M/R/GL-Class with a Command head unit your software update should be available mid-October.

If you have a 2008 E/CLS/SLK-Class with a Command head unit the software update is currently being tested and they are hoping to have it available by the beginning of November.

All other 2008 and 2009 vehicles should receive “The Best of XM” without a software update.

The 2009 MSRP’s have just been released! If you combine these numbers with the options pricing, you’ll know how much a 2009 will cost. I don’t see any dramatic changes from the 2008 MSRP’s. If you are ready to place your order please do let me know!

While the look of the CLS has remained just about the same (why mess with perfection!) the value has gone up substantially. Navigation has become standard equipment – and not the old navigation but the new system that debuted in the C-Class and that will be in the E, ML, GL and R-Classes this year. The old P2 Package is gone and all of the desireable equipment – Xenons and Keyless GO – have been added into P1 Package. The P1 Package went up in price, from $2860 in 2008 to $3950 for 2009 which is less than 2008 P2 at $4770.
