My 2007 ML320 CDI did a fantastic job getting me home for the holidays! Stuffed with two end tables, a mixer, a ladder, a workbench and other assorted gifts, the ML cruised through a light blizzard on the way to Illinois. And while my other out of town relatives were camped at the airport, hoping to get a flight back east, we headed home – averaging 22 miles per gallon at slightly less than 80 mph. Almost made it a no-stopper on the way home but had to fuel up in Marietta. I love traveling in my Mercedes-Benz!
It’s not all about good looks, comfort and safety…My 2007 ML320 CDI sometimes has to act like a work truck! The ML towed a few tons of wood from one side of the yard to the other while climbing steep grades and maneuvering through tight spaces. What a great all-around vehicle!
I had been very curious about the fuel filler flap release button on the ML450 HYBRID that the local Mercedes-Benz technical specialist has been driving. I finally got an answer!
In order to comply with the PZEV emissions standards – zero evaporative emissions – this button triggers the fuel tank to depressurize before the cap is removed so that vapors don’t escape. The ML 450’s increased fuel efficency means that the fuel tank isn’t opened as often as it would be in a non-hybrid so increased pressure could build up and therefore needs this extra step!
Mercedes-Benz has just told us that the 2010 ML450 HYBRID is now scheduled for release in December. It will be a very limited production vehicle due to the limited availability of the necessary batteries. Also, “In order to maximize availability and ensure that we have a sufficient replacement inventory to guarantee the highest level of customer satisfaction, the ML450 HYBRID will be available as lease only without the ability to purchase.” They expect that the ML450 HYBRID lease payment will carry a premium over the ML350 4Matic of $20-$120 per month. Actual payments will be released when the vehicle is released in December.
The order banks are open and there are currently vehicles available. Now is a good time to get on board if you want to lease one of the most technologically advanced green cars in the market!
Last week the 1 millionth M-Class built in Vance, AL rolled off the line. The one that set the record was a ML350 BlueTEC that is heading to a dealer in Phoenix. This is a great acheviement, and we plan to see many future M, R, and GL-Class vehicles make their way to Atlanta Classic Cars from this plant. Maybe someday the ML420 and GL420 (V8 diesel) models that pass through our dealership from Vance on their way to the rest of the world will get to stay a while.
– Update – This ML550 has been sold. If you are even thinking about an ML550 this is the one you should get! Immediately! This car is well-equipped, gorgeous and it will be a great deal! It is technically a new vehicle – it has never been titled – but the warranty started 10 months ago and it has 8175 miles. We can add an extended warranty that will cover it up to 100,000 miles if that would be a benefit to you. Please let me know if you are interested! We only have one, it can’t be replaced, and it will sell fast!

It is an exciting time here at the dealership…the 2010 models are arriving! There is nothing I enjoy more than parking a 2009 next to a 2010 and looking for the differences. Some models have only tiny changes this year and some have the “refresh” – which is usually new bumpers, lights, a few buttons and new wheels. I have included a few pictures of the changes that jumped out at me.
2010 GL550 – New Bumpers, New Wheels, New Lighting
2010 GL450 – New Bumpers, New Wheels, New Fog Lights
2010 C300 – New Laurel Wreath Center Cap in Optional 18″ wheels
2010 S550 – Full Refresh – New Lights, Bumpers, New Wood Steering Wheel
