SLKWorld.com is an excellent forum for SLK owners and enthusiasts to discuss the vehicles, ask questions and meet other owners. There are about 50 active members in the Atlanta area and they often get together for driving events. These seven gorgeous SLKs met at the dealership this morning before a scenic drive to Helen. Thanks for coming!

If you are interested in joining the club for future event just get in touch on the site! They’re a very friendly group…they even let an E-Class ride along today.

Illumination Kit for Side Running Boards in the Mercedes-Benz GL-Class

Mercedes-Benz has launched a new accessory for the GL-Class – The Illumination Kit for Side Running Boards (Code 267). This kit has 4 LEDs on each side that illuminate the running board for both style and safety. The price for this option is $650 and it is installed at the Vehicle Preparation Center before being shipped to the dealership. To order this option the vehicle must also be ordered with the Side Running Boards (Code 846).

Road Trip in the 2007 ML320 CDI!

Last week I drove my 2007 ML320 CDI to Illinois for a family visit. It was a great trip and I thought I would share the achievements of the ML.

Fuel Economy: 24.2 mpg cruising at 75 mph on the way there. I filled up in Atlanta and could have made it all the way to Champaign on a single tank! I did fill up in Tennessee when I stopped for lunch…just because the prices were pretty good.

Cargo Capacity: The ML is officially listed at 72.4 cubic feet with the second row folded flat. For the return trip that turned out to be just enough room for 2 suitcases and a baby pool full of hostas!

As always, I highly recommend our diesels for their outstanding fuel economy, passenger comfort and environmental friendliness!

I Am Walking in the 2010 Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure!

I have signed up to walk in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure this October in Atlanta. It is a 60 mile walk, over the course of 3 days, all over Atlanta. This will be my third year participating in the walk and I am looking forward to adding to our team totals! In the last two years we have raised close to $50,000 and, with 9 women on the team this year, we should get to $75,000 for our three year total. The whole event in Atlanta raises millions of dollars for Susan G. Komen that goes towards research, detection and treatment of breast cancer.

$2300 is the minimum that I have to raise for the privilege of walking 60 miles. I have been lucky to have the support of my dealership as well as family, friends and blog readers to start the ball rolling. I was hoping that there were a few more readers who might help me on the way to my goals! You can use the link at the left or click here to reach my personal fundraising page.  Every dollar helps in the fight against breast cancer!

Thanks in advance!

The 2009 3-Day Team Gets Ready for Day 2!
Motor Trend First Drive – 2011 Mercedes-Benz R350

“Most of the changes to the U.S.-built 2011 R-Class revolve around its exterior, which is now more in line with its stablemates. Its wider-look mug is highlighted by a more angular three-bar grille and hood, revised headlamps and slick LED light-bar running lamps. The muscular theme also plays out at the rear, with shallower rear glass, rectangular exhaust tips integrated into a diffuser, and edgier taillamps. “

“Seven-passenger seating is an option, but the R-Class works best as a six-seater, with two captain chairs in the second row and a two-person bench at the rear. Adults should have no problem getting into the back row as the second row seats easily flip up and out of the way, and with 32.4-inches of legroom, they’re probably not going to complain about sitting back there for a spell unless they’re on the local basketball team. “

“The R350 4Matic employs the automaker’s 268 horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6, while the R350 BlueTEC 4Matic gets the 50-state legal 3.0-liter turbodiesel with 210 horsepower and a healthy 400 pound-feet of torque. Both engines are hooked up to Benz’s tried-and-true seven-speed automatic transmission and 4Matic means both are all-wheel-drive only.”

“For as long and as heavy as it is, the R-Class is a solid handler. It’s not the type of vehicle you’re going to be tossing into corners, but it isn’t going to roll over and play dead either. “
