In April Mercedes-Benz will be launching the new Drive Kit Plus for the iPhone in the US market. It was introduced in Europe late last year in the A-Class. This system allows you to connect your iPhone to your Mercedes-Benz for a lot more than just phone calls and music!
This website has lots of details and demos about the features!
MSRP is expected to be under $1000 installed. Part numbers are not yet available.
The latest update for our NTG 2.5 COMAND system has been released. The release date is January 18, 2013 and the part number is BQ 646 0302.
This update is done through the service department by uploading a new software version from a disk. As much as 20% of the information on these maps can change from year to year so if you haven’t updated in a while you might see a big change!

Mercedes-Benz does not currently have a cargo tray available for the 2013 GL-Class that works with the third row seat folded flat. I have found that the cargo tray for the 2006-2011 M-Class fits perfectly side to side and leaves just a small gap behind the second row seats. Don’t get the mat for the 2012 or newer M-Class…it is much too wide. Contact your local parts department to order.

There are lots of ways to customize your Mercedes-Benz! These Sport Tail Lamps with clear lenses recently became available and we installed them in a 2013 Mercedes-Benz E-Class. I parked a standard tail light car next to it for comparison. The clear lenses give it a very custom, European look in my opinion. I bet it would look very dramatic on a black car!
If you are interested in swaping your lights the part number is A2129061658 and the cost should be about $770 plus labor.

One of the salespeople got his Lighting Adaptor for the iPhone 5 today so we tested it with the Mercedes-Benz iPod/MP3 Interface Cable in an E-Class. It works! The adaptor is the little white square in thepicture above. It charges the phone, it plays the music, no problems. Here is the link to your $30 solution.
The Becker Map Pilot (Option Code 001 + Pre-Wire Code 508) is now available for the 2013 C-Class, GLK-Class and SLK-Class. I have used it a few times and find it to be much more intuitive than the Nav+4 or UMI that we used before. The Pre-Wire option is $200 and the Becker Map Pilot itself is $600 and can simply be plugged into the dock. The biggest flaw with the kit was the lack of a detailed instruction manual. Here it is!
Thanks to Nash for finding it for me!
As I am sure all of you Apple users already know, the iPhone 5 has a new, smaller plug. This plug will not work with the built-in iPod/MP3 interface cable in your Mercedes-Benz. You will need an adapter. Apple has a couple on the website with an estimated ship date of October. Problem solved!
