The 2009 C63 is available with 5 interior options. Having only seen the Black Leather (210), I was at a loss when Randall from California asked me exactly what the other interiors looked like. Since I couldn't answer his question he visited a couple of local dealers and here are the results!

Sahara Beige/Black Leather Interior (205) only has the Beige Leather on the front of the driver and passenger seats. The whole dash, back of the seats and headliner are black.
Grey/Black Leather Interior (208) has grey seats AND a grey lower dash. The upper dash, back of the seats and headliner are black.

The AMG Select Fabric Interiors (701 and 718) which are standard for 2009, are still a bit of a mystery. We have not seen it in person but it should look something like this. The Mercedes-Benz fabric has always been very good looking and shockingly durable. It was standard on the 2006 ML's for a brief time and I was very impressed with the high quality and appearance of the fabric.

Mercedes newest addition to the exclusive AMG Black Series will be based on the V12 biturbo SL65. Modeled after the current Formula 1 pace car, only 200 of these 661 hp race ready SLs will be sold in the US for the 2009 model year.

Though this car is based on the 2009 SL, the Black Series will have a non-retractable carbon-fiber roof, widened front and rear carbon-fiber fenders, and a carbon-fiber hood and trunk lid making it 550lbs lighter than the standard SL65. The widened rear fenders will allow for the widest rear tires ever used on an AMG at 325/30ZR20 which should work out to about 12.5 inches wide. The information from Mercedes doesn't mention any details about the movable rear spoiler shown in the photos above but I would assume it will raise and lower based on speed. With 661 hp and 738 lb-ft 60 mph will come up in 3.6 seconds on the way to the limited top speed of 199 mph.

Production will start in August of this year with deliveries starting in December. These cars will be very exclusive and only large dealers like ours will be able to get them for you. If you're interested in ordering one contact me now.

Nevermind that the E63 is "more powerful than Mexico", has a great exhaust note, can carry more cheese, and is way faster in a straight line, because it's also the only one of these two avaliable in the US. (the power rear load shelf is not a US avaliable option )

The 2008 C63 is currently in production for release in April. It has drawn a lot of interest and I am very excited about how well it has been reviewed. While the C63 came in second in this Motor Trend comparison, it is obvious that they loved the car and had a blast driving it.

"Hurtling the C63 down the quarter mile is like firing a Government Model Colt 45. The result is rewarding in an explosive sense. Mercedes-Benz quotes 0-to-60 in 4.3, but just the right launch technique yielded a best time of 4.1 seconds. That's on par with 8.0-liter Dodge Vipers of just a decade ago."

"Two areas stand out here: seats and steering wheels. In keeping with its ballsy nature, the C63 has firm, thickly bolstered front buckets....Everyone loves the Mercedes' steering wheel. It's squared off at the bottom, like a DTM racer's, is thickly padded with dimpled leather at the handgrip areas, and has easy-to-reach shifter paddles."

Since 1996 Mercedes-Benz and AMG have supplied the official Formula One Safety Car and the 2008 season will continue this great tradition. Mercedes relationship with the world's most popular form of motor racing has provide huge awareness of the stunning combination of luxury and performance that all AMG models provide their owners. Taking over from the CLK63 AMG used in 2006 and 2007, the newly updated SL63 has been modified to take over the 2008 Safety Car duties. In addition the obvious addition of lights and safety equipment this SL has been stripped of it's retractable top mechanism and various panels have been replace with carbon fiber. These changes resulted in almost 500 pounds of weight savings.

Mercedes will also provide new wheels for Formula One's Race Doctor and first responders. Based on the C63 AMG wagon, that we don't get to enjoy in this country, the 2008 Medical Car carries a response team of four and emergency equipment as fast as possible to any accident.

Qualifying for the first Formula One race of the season starts in just 7 days.
